This is a form of buyer's remorse.

A have a theory that adjectives are among the most expensive ingredients.

I often have the experience, here in Spain, that menu items contains references to regions, thus making them untranslatable.

Galician Octopus?

What good does this do me if I am unfamiliar with Galicia?

Haha! That is pretty strange!
And to add to the list, Budgerigar (household parakeet) means "good to eat" in aborigine. I find it kinda hard to sit around a campfire and gnaw on a little parakeet. And south americans still cook cavies (guinea pigs).

AHAHA This made my day :)
I'm Filipino and I had my boyfriend [who is English] try balut a few years ago. It was an interesting experience watching him eat it.

Although when people ask us what it is, I have to ask if they want my straight-to-the-point definition or my boyfriend's rather morbid explanation... But they always choose his story, I don't know why..

Sounds yuck to me.

And I like both duck and hard-boiled eggs.
