As you may know, David Daneman is an English teacher in the Republic of Korea, as he has been for the last 13 months.
This "joke" comes from two places. First, I proofread lots and lots of papers that are written by 13 year old Koreans. As such, there is a certain language of proofreading, ie capitalize this and punctuate that. Secondly, as I am given compliments on my artwork, I have been occasionally hailed as a "genious" and there is a certain irony to this. It is like mispronouncing the word "pronunciation" as people so frequently do. So thank you all. And it's spelled "genius." |
